They regularly feature local bands and cultural events, and help support the local music scene. Check out Bill's Pickin' Parlor in West Columbia, SC for bluegrass instruments, accessories, and jam sessions. Anna and Shellie Davis and the Unamed Bluegrass Band- a great band from Leesville, SC. The Columbia Beet is an online zine and radio show that showcases bands from the midlands. Give them a visit! WUSC can be found at 90.5 on the FM dial in the Columbia area. They have several great shows that feature good folk, country, and americana music. Check out the schedule for the Red Bank Bar & Grill Show, Hillbilly Heaven, and some of the other cool shows they have. IBluegrass is THE site to keep up to date with the bluegrass world, and you can listen to Pickin' In The Pines Bluegrass Radio while you browse the internet. We love to play bluegrass at the Haynes auditorium in Leesville, SC. They have great bands once a month, along with a bluegrass jam session. The coolest new BBQ and music venue in the midlands is Smoke Southern BBQ. Boudin sausage, oyster roasts, gumbo, and BBQ, and located just minutes from Columbia in scenic Blythewood. |
